Tools
Are used to specifically link processes and workstations. We often define Tools as an RPA platform, but any other term can be used. This way, processes can be executed specifically by one or more workstations. If no Tool is used, any workstation (to which the process is linked) can be used.
How to link a tool to a process can be found here: Link tool to process.
How to link a process to a workstation can be found here: Link process to workstation
A few examples of how it can be used.
Tool Case 1
We want a process to be handled specifically by one or more specific workstations.
Scenario:
- Each workstation has the process linked.
- The process is linked to the tool: SAIO.
- Workstation 1 is not linked to any tool.
- Workstation 2 is linked to the tool: SAIO.
- Workstation 3 is linked to the tool: SAIO.
- Workstation 4 is linked to the tool: UiPath.
Result:
- Workstation 1 is allowed to pick up work. This is useful for workstations that should be able to pick up any process linked to the workstation.
- Workstation 2 is allowed to pick up work. The workstation is specifically linked to the tool.
- Workstation 3 is allowed to pick up work. The workstation is specifically linked to the tool.
- Workstation 4 is not allowed to pick up work. Even though the process is linked, the tool is the deciding factor, and it is not the same as SAIO.
Tool Case 2
We willen dat een proces door elke workstation opgepakt mag worden (mits het proces gelinked is) welke beschikbaar is.
Scenario:
- Process X is not linked to a Tool.
- Workstation 1 has the process linked and is not linked to a tool.
- Workstation 2 has the process linked and is not linked to a tool.
- Workstation 3 does not have the process linked and is not linked to a tool.
- Workstation 4 does not have the process linked and is not linked to a tool.
Result:
- Workstation 1 is allowed to pick up work.
- Workstation 2 is allowed to pick up work.
- Workstation 3 is not allowed to pick up work.
- Workstation 4 is not allowed to pick up work.
Scaling Up Workstations
Workstation 4 is idle while the workload is increasing for the other workstations. Workstation 4 is capable of processing this task. Edit the workstation and link the process. From that moment on, the workstation can reserve work.
