Failed Process Steps

Failed Process Steps shows Operators the possibility to still approve a failed request at Process Step level. This way, a robot can continue to process the rest of the request. In the end this saves a lot of time for operators and process managers.

In previous versions of the Spider, this caused the entire request to fail and still require manual work, which is not the intention.

Especially processes that contain a lot of process steps can be processed faster this way and ultimately less manual actions are needed. Failed Process Step

Example

An example of a process with a number of process Steps.

Process:

  • Linking User

Process Steps:

  • Validation - User Data
  • Linking - AD
  • Linking - Topdesk
  • Linking - Office365 apps
  • Mailing - User

The robot starts to work and when connecting to Topdesk, the robot gets an error on the screen. The process Step is set to Failed and the request cannot be processed further. What are the options?

  • An operator starts the request again from the process Step that went wrong (RFN request).
  • An operator rejects the entire request because it may not be processed further.
  • An operator handles the failed Process Step manually
  • An operator only processes this Process Step manually and sets it to success so that the robot can continue processing it.

Of course this depends on the steps that are done in a process Step, but it offers possibilities for faster processing of a request by robots and a minimal impact to perform manual actions by Spider Operators or administrators of (sub)processes.

We see that 2 process Steps are processed successfully and the third one fails.
